I'm pretty late to the challenge but thought it would be fun to do anyway. Even if I don't make the deadline. It's a fun way to learn, right? Eevee has a lot of fur and I've never sculpted stylized fur so that is what I want to focus on with this challenge.
Eevee References
1. Initial Blockout. Trying to get the proportions correct.
Eevee!! 😍
That looks good so far. Can’t wait to see it when it’s finished!
You got until 9am Monday morning, UK time, when I will compile a list of entries for the crew to review.
Good luck, and glad you are taking part.
My daughter came in and said "Ooh, are you making Eevee?" So I must be on the right track. :)
Neck Fur take 1. So hard converting 2D fur to 3D fur. I'm sure I'll redo it a few times.
Neck Fur take 2. Tried to go a little more subtle with the fur tufts.
Thanks spikeyxxx I think I'm headed in the right direction. I'll go with this style since I need to get a move on with the rest of the character. I'll come back if I have time.
Texturing/Shading. I put some different fabric textures on different parts to see how they look. You can't really tell from this image. Still need some polish but I'm getting there.
Final Composite. It was a bit of an obsession for me this past week. I'm very happy with how it turned out.
For the stylized grass I referenced Kristof Dedene's Youtube Video here: https://youtu.be/6hyztL8btlY
Wow! That looks really good! But there is something off about the eyes. They're big enough and the shape looks good but they're not..... shiny enough.
wendy10698 I tried putting an artificial light spot in the eyes but just couldn't get it right. It was washing out the color in one eye and I was running out of time so I scrapped it and called it done. :)
notcastanza They still look really good. When I look at them closely I can see depth there. I am interested in how you got the brown material of the eye to take that shape and still look good. I wish I could see what the mesh and material look like on the eyes.
wendy10698 It is actually just painted on a flattened UV sphere. I used a circle brush to make the lighter area and a smaller circle brush with the same black color to cut into it.
So, is it a flat painted mesh right behind the eye and there is a clear lens like mesh over it?
Edit: Wait, I think I see. You said a flattened UV Sphere. So then you painted the mesh of the sphere.
