Using Multiple UV Layouts

posted to: Render Your Pothead

Hey Jonathan! Loving this course! I'm working my way through the UV unwrapping portion. Because I'm also modeling a pet for my final render, am I correct in assuming that I'll need separate UV layouts for each character? If so, can you refresh my memory on how to do that? Having a brain cramp. Thanks -- Jonas

Hey jwinfield , that's awesome! I'm excited to see the pet you come up with :)

I would probably keep the two characters as separate objects and texture them individually as well, which means that they would need to have separate materials to load in the separate images. If you want to reuse the procedural parts, you could turn those sections into one or more group nodes and reuse them in both the pet and the main material. Hope that helps and good luck!

Thanks for getting back to me. My problem is that I don’t remember how to create two separate UV layouts in the same blender file. I’ll check out the texturing course and see if the answer is in there. It’s probably simple, I just don’t remember.
