The ear is definitely farther back than it should be but that will get adjusted in the next video. I may need to bring the whole face back a little too.
Orthographic side view doesn't look at bad but when I rotate the view about 15 degrees it does seem to need more adjustments for sure.
Small progress: Adjusted the eyes a little more. I am juggling the 2021Collab this month so progress will be slower than I hoped but I am okay with that.
Did a little more with the ears before moving on to the next section:
Really dug deep on some of those areas that were shallow. Hopefully that pays off later when getting skin shaders.
Blender crashed on me mid session but I was probably about 2-3 hours total learning the sculpting on the ears.
Those shapes you've made look great Shawn! Definitely a hard area to get right.
I did notice that your ear has a bit more of an angle to it though (green) and that the top part looks a little bit too wide compared to the reference. I bet you could just use the grab brush to move things around a bit without upsetting the shapes you have - if you wanted some more likeness that is!
Thanks Keith. I keep committing to too many projects but I am not stopping on this course.
I did some rework on the ear. And this is the final result before moving on to the neck:
I'm up to 32 hours so far. More to go for sure!
Still working on more refinement before continuing to the additional facial features after getting some feedback from Kent.
I have added a shape key and refined some areas:
1. Making Eye area smaller
2. Smoothing some sharper planes left over from the block-out stage mostly on the side/temple area.
3. Neck area features lessened and hopefully more in line.
I animated the shape key. The eyes didn't get animated and have already been made smaller but the rest is shown

First set of facial features swap: Eyes. I had my kids pick from the list above so I could trust on a more random selection.
Here's the pick:
And here's my first attempt at a feature swap for the eyes.
Awesome update, blanchsb! Your bust is looking more natural with the outside eye corners being brought in and the refinements you made to the neck front 👍
Your eye swap is also looking good to me.
One small thing to keep in mind is that your irises are pointed a bit down, which reflects the reference you used (circled blue). It gives him almost a pose like he's "better than" whoever he's looking at if that makes sense. I'd rotate the irises up to give him a more neutral neutral.
Keep up the good work, sir!
"It gives him almost a pose like he's "better than" whoever he's looking at"
Uh oh......he's looking at me!?! I wonder if this is how Dr. Frankenstein felt when his creation opened it's eyes and stared at him.
I suppose you could say you're 'All ears' Shawn........ 😒
Looks like you have loads of nice reference there, and it's great to see you working on this project again! 👍
