I'm finding my snake hook brush runs out of steam much faster than the instructor's, where I'll get a half to a third of the distance before the mesh stops deforming and the volume is much thinner. I get that that everyone's approach and results will be different, but it seems to take me more strokes to get the same kinds of forms and that I'm fighting the tool. Did something change in newer versions of Blender (I'm using 2.93.3), are there different settings I should be trying, or is this just a skill that I'll develop over time?
Hey nngrandner ,
Check the strength of the brush is at 1,
And play with the Dyntopo settings, lower the detail size a little at a time, try subdivide edges.
These things will all effect the way the snake hook behaves,
best way to get a feel for the brush is to play around with it.
Aha! It's the Feather option, which is reducing the strength near the axis of symmetry!
It was apparently enabled by default in 2.83. When I turn this off I get the behavior I expect, though it seems useful when actually pulling along the axis.
