First of all, thank you for creating this delightful course on modeling an industrial scene! It really furthered my modeling skills to the next level.
I would like to use the model I created using this course in a series I am creating. Is that OK by CGCookie and Kent?
I far as I understand it. You can as long you created it.(Did the modeling, and texturing as a posed to using the finished file or parts of the finished file.) If you used any of their resources then you can use it for personal and educational purposes, but not commercial. I'd also recommend giving credit in your animation unless they ask you not too. I'd also recommend e-mailing them at [email protected] to verify as I could be totally wrong and it is always best to get answers directly from the source.
I see. I've already e-mailed them and I'm waiting for a response. Thanks for the info!
Thanks for the kind feedback sspaghettimonster! I'm really glad to hear your modeling improved as a result of this course.
Support will give you the best response about using the model you created as a result of this course. Would you mind explaining more how you want to use the model in your series? So long as you're not teaching a series on creating this exact model it should be fine 😅 More than anything we appreciate being credited; pay it forward / golden rule kind of thing. But again, I'd wait for support for an official answer.
Thanks for the reply, Kent.
I would like to use the model I created using this tutorial as a pivotal location in the YouTube series (it is a replica I have modelled myself, not using the source files). The ominous and industrial feel it gives off is perfect for the location. I don't want to spoil too much, but action definitely goes down there haha.
I've already gotten a response from the support team. They've advised me not to use it due to licensing issues. It is a little disheartening but I'll respect the official decision decided by the team.
