Space Station Challenge 2021 WIP - Nemesis

Contests and Challenges

Hi,

This is my 1st attempt at low poly modeling.

My goal is to animate a space shuttle launching into space and then meeting up with the space station (Nemesis).

I started a bit late so hopefully, I'll finish in time.

Thank you.

Bennie

duerer Mostly quads and some triangular. This is still a learning curve for me. Great advice, thank you Ingmar. Will convert my quads to triangles. 😊

  • Vue Thao(euv) replied

    Thanks for the encouragement. *thumbsup*

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

bc_griffin I remember me modeling Kent's "treasure chest" which is, despite it's already a more complex object, stil a low- poly object, but I was trying to make it all-quads as a personal challenge πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ . In the end, it wasn't necessary since the "Lattice Modifier" for giving the treasure chest a more cartoony look didn't pose a problem and it's still looking fantastic in Kent's "Coin Explosion Animation" here.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

Thank you, Bennie πŸ˜€! Especially the rotation of the lens flare beam coming from the engines makes it look extra cool πŸ‘. Does this come automatically from the "Compositing" node setup or did you need to animate a setting?

  • Bennie Griffin(bc_griffin) replied

duerer You're welcome Ingmar. I think the lens flare I kept at default. The sun beam nodes were animated because I wasn't entirely satisfied with it's default position. I will have to confirm. 😊

    Hi,

My earth model is now rendered complete. I can't wait to breathe life into it.

Have been watching Armageddon for some inspiration.

This model is based upon Andrew Price' tutorial.

Started modeling a small section of my space station.

Time is against me right now so I will only be submitting this piece alongside my low poly space station.

I will however upload a complete animation of my space shuttle launching into space in the near future.

Out of this world bc_griffin , When I read 'Andrew Price Tutorial'Β I was expecting a donut world.

  • Bennie Griffin(bc_griffin) replied

adrian2301 Thank you Adrian. Hahaha, oh goodness NO. The Donut tutorial is such a great Introduction for Beginners. I did however made some adjustments to make it my own. It is just courteous to give credit where it is due. Thank you again Adrian.

bc_griffin Wow, you're not only a skilled character sculptor but also a high level low poly modeler πŸ˜€πŸ‘!

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

Thank you, Bennie πŸ˜€! I've just seen that there's a "Lens Flares in Blender" tutorial by CG Masters here.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

@adrian2301 and @bc_griffin Did somebody say "Donut" ? I'm getting hungry πŸ΄πŸ˜‰. Maybe, I could incorporate it into my little space station "Energize" πŸ˜‰πŸ˜?! Β A propos "Andrew's Donut Tutorial": 1,946,166 million viewers (22nd July 2021) made it to the 7th and final part. Some were quite successful as for example Lucas Gardezani Abduch: "Wow. My donut looks like it was hit by a truck. But I'm having fun. Lets try the next level." πŸ‘πŸ˜

  • Bennie Griffin(bc_griffin) replied

duerer You're welcome Ingmar. Oh wow, that looks amazing! Thank you for sharing Ingmar! 😊 πŸ™Β

  • Bennie Griffin(bc_griffin) replied

duerer Thank you Ingmar, you are too kind. 😊 πŸ™ Character design is my first love and passion when it involves 3D content. I can't wait for Kent Trammell' master course releasing in November. I love these challenges that CG Cookie presents to the community, because it pushes you to explore other regions, in my case low poly modeling. I have a new project in mind, a character I liked in my youth and loved playing the games. My adaptation of Dante from the "Devil May Cry" series. You take great care of yourself dear Ingmar and please share some of your progress on your projects.Β

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

Thank you, Bennie πŸ˜€! Yes, I'm also counting the months until Kent's "Portrait" course is released. And in the meantime there're so many other challenges. Courses are piling up on my computer and I hope to finish them before Kent's course starts.Β

Adrian encouraged me to submit my space station here. So, I need to hurry with the completion.Β

Your space station as well as your next character model will be great for sure πŸ‘! A propos "Character Model": Recently, I've purchased Raphael Grassetti's "Male Character" modeling course for some inspiration in order to become a better sculptor. ThisΒ is the best I can currently achieve.Β

Take care of yourself, dear Bennie Β πŸ˜€!

  • Bennie Griffin(bc_griffin) replied

duerer You're most welcome Ingmar. 😊 I have been alternating between new and old projects. There is a few WIP projects I wish to complete like Lion-O among many other. Your Space Station and Human Head looks great so far. Would you be so kind as to forward the link to Rafael Grasetti' course? Thank you Ingmar.

  • Ingmar Franz(duerer) replied

bc_griffin It's the "Anatomy Tutorial Package" hereΒ on Gumroad. And I've just seen that Rafael Grassetti has a Youtube channel as well here.

  • Bennie Griffin(bc_griffin) replied

duerer Thank you Ingmar. Oh, I know about this course. I thought that you were referring to a new course. 😊 Yeah, I am a subscriber on his channel. Thank you again and all the best going forward.
