Looking for recommendations for a Blender dedicated laptop.

Hello everyone!

I'm back to some Blendering, hopefully.

Unfortunately, while my desktop computer is up to the task, my current laptop is a cheap thing that is unable to run Blender properly (as in, viewport get slow quite fast even because of geometry complexity).

As I'm 2h30 per day in train, I'd really want to take the opportunity to use this time for Blender.

I'm looking for general comments and considerations to choose a laptop up to the task, with a budget price of approximately 1000€.

Side note : This laptop can be dedicated to modeling, and shading, while rendering can be performed on my home computer.

Thank you for your time!

    Hi Thibault,

I have been looking into the same as you lately. Last year I armed a (budget) desktop for using/learning Blender and got good information on cgdirector.com.

There are some Blender specific topics you can find there, and tips for animation or modeling laptops.

Choosing your laptop will ofcourse be dependent on your budget and/or availability of some good oportunities.

I have read lot of reviews and sites, and most recommend a good gaming laptop as excellent options for Blender.  Productchart.com can also be helpful since it compares the most important laptopparts and think even complete laptops.

Or just typing "most recommended (budget) laptops for Blender (animation, 3Dmodeling) will also give good results. I would recommend look into the tips and look around for good opportunities, depending if you want a new or used laptop.

Personally I still not decided, but first need saving up the money for that laptop.

I was even thinking of saving up for a Drawing tablet like f.e. the Wacom Cintig instead.

    Greetings!

    Hey otowa ,

First and foremost check out The Blender Requirements . Look for a laptop that meets the requirements and your needs. You say you want your laptop for use on the train, the minimum requirements stats "Mouse, Trackpad or Pen and Tablet". A Trackpad or a Pen and Tablet will be harder to use for modelling. A mouse would be the preferred option. Think about your train journey, does the train have a table or a surface to use a mouse. You can use a laptop with trackpad for modelling, I have used one before, but it is more difficult, if you are learning Blender you don't want to make it harder than it needs to be.

It all comes down to personal preference, and you will need to shop around, but always keep in mind at least the minimum requirements.
