I know your suppose to reset the scale on a primitive after a scale using ctr A but... do you do it after each mesh you manipulate in edit mode? I know if I did do that that would make the mesh go back to the origin so maybe just the scale and not the rotation or location? I was wondering this because would it be better to reset a mesh after any edit mode so the uv would be set to 1 as the scale would be?

If you need to reset the scale of an object, it's usually because you've scaled that object in Object mode instead of Edit mode. If you open the properties pannel in Object mode, in the transform tab you'll see the scale of your curent selected object (If you've scaled your object in Object mode, those values will have changed acording to the trasformations you will have done. However anything done in Edit mode will not affect those values). Resting the scale with Ctrl+A will keep all the scaling transforms that you've done to your object in object mode and consider the current object dimentions as default --> setting all the scale values at 1.00 in the properties pannel. Knowing that, you'll agree with me that reseting the scale after each edit mode is useless. ^^
