i looked all over the internet and i cant find any info as to why pressing "i" gets me this message "keying set failed to insert any keyframes"
i looked on different ways that you can insert the keyframes but they all get me the same message
what can i do?
Hello mmdct,
have you checked this: https://blender.stackexchange.com/questions/16531/keying-set-failed-to-insert-any-keyframes
In this forum thread someone mentioned to enable the editability of a channel, maybe you have the same problem. If this is the case, this could help : https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/editors/graph_editor/channels.html
Greetings,
tobles
thanks for trying to help, unfortunatly i have no idea what theyre talking about
i wish the people here at cgcookie would bother to look at our issues since were paying them, how dissapointing
thanks buddy
mmdct I am sorry this is so frustrating. One of the nice things about the CG Cookie community is that we try to help each other when the instructors are preoccupied. If you could post a few screenshots of your scene, perhaps with the error message visible, someone who has had that same problem may be able to help troubleshoot the issue. There are so many buttons and switches in Blender, it would helpful to see what is happening.
i dont know how to put screenshoots here
but i basickly installed blender 2.92 i follow this learning flow wich i had no problems with...
untill i got to the animation part as soon as i type "i" i get that message
Hey mmdct,
to post a screenshot here you simply make a screenshot, save it and then you drag and drop it in here.
Right now I haven't peeked into this course, but I think I remember you have to hower your coursor over the right part of the blender window. Have you put it where the tutor is howering his courser?
Regards,
tobles
Make sure you have the object selected when pressing i and your curser is in the 3d viewport
You may not see the keyframe if you have moved the timeline up, click in the timeline and drag the mouse down if this is the case.
The root problem is you have a keying set activated.
Keying sets are a collection of animated properties that are used to animate and keyframe multiple properties at the same time. For example, using keying sets you can press I in the 3D Viewport, Blender will add keyframes for all the properties in the active keying set.
However, if the object you are trying key doesn't have the supported properties or conditions to add the keyframe it will push out that error.
You can access keysets in the upper left of the timeline. There is a drop down called "Keying". Remove the keyset and you should be good to go. However if its still going on, keep us updated.
The frustration is real, I know it all too well. A major part of learning CG is being able to trouble shoot. Understanding the key terms to google, getting to know the community forums, reading the manual...learning how to post screen shots ;). Just because you are subscribed to a website, does not put those people on retainer for you. Good luck, happy Blending.
ohh thanks
that was it
ill try to be more nicer the next time i get frustrated
thank you Phil
I'm glad that did it. Be sure to keep us updated on how you're doing. Always appreciate progress posts 🙂
