Overestimated or not, your fence section looks great rrichardyi! This is exactly how I would structure it in the sense of minimal pieces needed to assemble the whole fence. Once the terrain is finished, you can easily assemble the whole thing accordingly. Nice work! You've earned full points from me.
One stylistic note I was going to add was that the vertical boards are massive. Way chunkier than any fence I've seen. But then I checked the art and sure enough they're kinda huge. Almost the same size of the door:
harbinger_ua How do you feel about us shrinking the fence breadth down to more normal proportions?
@theluthier sure, we can do that. Just don't go too hard on them as they still need to be a bit exaggerated to fit the style.
rrichardyi I very much like what you've sculpted 👍! I'm wondering how this will look when it's assembled to a full fence 😀.
No worries on being "behind" - Several people have needed more time to catch up. In fact week 4 is intentionally a buffer week for everyone to catch up 👌
You've made solid progress with you sculpted wooden accents! Some advice I want to offer is tightening and lengthening your grain crevices as well as adding a few more to balance the look. I would also subdivide higher 1 or 2 levels to avoid the polygonal artifacts showing up in the sculpt.

rrichardyi Great work 😀👍! No additional advice from my side to what @theluthier wrote above. I'm looking forward to your final fence parts 😀!
@theluthier Uploaded my normal and cavity map. Haven't figure out the color map... Thank you for leading the collab2021. I definitely learned a lot from this program and have a more clear direction of what I should improve.
Can I ask you a random question? I am current working in a research lab. I am interested in making 3D animations of biomedical videos. One example is like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DGwOJXSxqg&t=318s
Can you recommend courses on cgcookie that will be helpful for reaching that goal? I know it's a long way to go... Thank you.
