This is my WIP for the COLLAB2021, please feel free to give comments.
@lexicolopolis Unfortunately it's not the case with my model. I have a really dense mesh, probably too dense for baking on a 1024 px texture. I wonder how many detials will show up in the bake. It all depends on the texel density of your UV's. I'll probably use multiple texture sets for the wood.
lucky I've been baking onto 2048px with acceptable quality. 1024 certainly won't cut it with all these pieces unless they're spread over multiple. Granted, my UVs are extremely unoptimized right now, just wanted to get an idea of the sculpt to normal map effect as I went.ย
When my file went over 1.5gig Blender started stuttering frequently. : / Hope you get your sculpts in without it wiggin out.ย
@lexicolopolis Keeping my fingers crossed but I can still sculpt smoothly. Kent talked about keeping the texture map at 1024, let's see what he will say tomorrow during the stream.
TOP-SHELF SCULPTING lucky! You're flowing through this asset beautifully. I applaud the quality of sculpture and modularization of pieces. Just awesome. Keep doing what you're doing!

Indeed this is what I said on stream but have since changed my mind. Check out the 3rd announcement in the HQ thread if you haven't already for the updated texture expectations.
Wow I really like this stones. hopefully I have time to try it out too , at least one stone. Very great work.
Homework Submission - Week 3 - Water Wheel
@theluthier ย
Baking of the normal and cavity map is almost done. Some issues have to be resolved. Still a lot to do this week. The goal is to have the texturing done on Tuesday before the live stream.
Update, first WIP with texturing. Not done but it's a base to work from. Coming days I want to work on it. Especially more variation in the wood color and roughness. Also moving and rotating some elements to prevent repetition. I also want to add some moss color to the wood and stone which are near the water.

NICE! All that glorious detail on a 2k, I knew you could do it! Great job.
Thanks, I updated it with some textures. Have a look and tell me what you think. Any tips? Still some work to do on variation of the wood color and roughness. Also it's too clean. I want to add some moss to add some color.
lucky You hit an absolute home run with this water wheel. I mean...it's stunning. No more to say. You're done!
If you wanted to contribute to the interior after April, I'm sure it would be appreciated ๐
@theluthier Thanks Kent! I still want to work on it some more. ย When it's done I'll let you know and you can decide if you want to update the master file or not.
Thanks again, it was a great experience and it's not over yet :).
dostovel I plan to contribute to the interior as much as I can. Will be a blast :)
Cool Lucky, I'm glad you're willing to help out with going the extra mile with the crazy interior revolution experiment.
I made some beauty shots of my wheel.ย
splat21 If you've got the time, please update your blog with these shots. Thanks!
@lexicolopolis As promised an update :)
@theluthier I changed some of the colors of the textures and added some randomness by rotating some elements. Should I update my WIP file? Or do you want to keep my first version for the final scene?
