This is my ongoing forum for my progress in Collab2021
Hey cclementk just checking in on one of my Free Craysons. How comes the blockout?
Hi, sorry for not posting updates was not sure if we were posting on here yet. I did the block out but will have to see if it fits well enough when we have the master file to compare it with the rest of the building.
Wonderful work for week 1 cclementk! I really don't have any constructive notes for you - just keep going into week 2 👍 Sculpted accents will look great on the wood. Also consider adding wavy glass detail like I did on the lantern from Tuesdays stream?
One more thing - It's a great time to copy + place your model in the placeholder file I made for you: /SPICE-VENDORS-HOUSE/SCENES/MODELS/WIP/HOUSE/EXTERIOR/WIP_house_window-A_clementk_00.blend
here is an update on my window shutter sculpt thus far should finish the rest tomorrow (also added some hinges since it just made sense to have them.
will also add more damage when all the wood is done so i don't overdo it on some parts
Hi cclementk,
the wood texture on the shutter looks very realistic and is interesting to look at. Well done. For me the scratches in the lower left corner that are oriented in the same direction are a nice feature since they kind of add a story to this shutter, like it has already been part of this house for a long long time.
Greetings,
tobles
Also started with the bridge since I'm done with baking with the window and wanted to hear some feedback on how to model it. since there is no official concept. I was thinking if parts (2) should be done with rocks to make the bridge fit in more with how the house is built to not make it look too plain with just a lot of wood. (1) would still be made of wood like the reference
I like the idea of incorporating rocks to spice up the design! But I think it's too much for what the bridge meant for. I do carpentry projects as a hobby and I would never attempt to add a massive rock base to a simple footbridge. I say "simple" because it's wood construction but simple doesn't have to mean boring. Just like the cart isn't boring imo.
Personally I find the bridges I posted to be very interesting and relevant to the style of the art. There were other options that were too basic and boring but these fit with the spirit of the art imo.
Again, I applaud your creativity and aim to build something impressive. I recommend going full wood construction.
Would this shape work for the footbridge? It's a bit harder to know how to make the legs for the bridge I'm not sure where it will be in the master file.
@theluthier Just wanted to ask if this is how the posts on the bridge should look as someone on discord said it was in the foreground and looked more like the fence post.
I like the direction you went with the footbridge posts 👍
You make a great point about the post length...if only I had finished the terrain model 100% by now! In hindsight I wish I blocked out the whole environment before we started. It would have saved so many headaches...
BUT that's neither here nor there. I recommend lengthening the middle 2 supports on each side by 50%. That should be enough to extend into the creek far enough. Anything other tweaks I'll make for the final assembly.
OH and fantastic work on week2 sculpting! Your window is looking amazing. I still can't even tell your bake is a bake. Love the hinge addition too. You clearly know what you're doing so keep up the good work 👏
Here is some progress on the Bridge sculpt done 3 wooden boards with a unique top and bottom so can rotate them to have 6 different patorns also one smaller one for where the side posts are located, also sculpted the concrete blocks that hold it in the creak.
cclementk There is some beautiful engineering that has gone into these pieces. Fancy wood textures on the bridge too!
You've done incredible work cclementk. Just crushed both the window and the bridge 👏
I'm eager to get these assets linked into the assembly! I have your latest .blend but I don't see any textures saved to google drive. Can you make sure textures are synced?
