As always this CGCookie forum is the place for all Free Crayson Team major updates.
Assuming the list doesn't grow more this looks to be a great starting lineup!
Here's the full list of team members as of now:
ttat , andybegg , nnavik , jakeblended , matbev , oonelombax , @donsoarese , cclementk , nathangarduno , tthe3dbanana , interuse , sstclark , bbryandr , ccooly , undiscovered , konstantinosk , blanchsb, duerer, hapit , llegobenj , chbug hadiczech , beefkeef
Also FYI the discord server is also up and running. Both here and there are places to collaborate. We'll try to keep official announcements in this forum but you are welcome to work together in our own text and voice channels dedicated for our team over there if you'd like. I'll place a semi-active role in both locations.

Alrighty, I'll let you know once I have begun in earnest. Work to wrap up first...
@donsoarese welcome to the crew! Looking forward to working alongside you.
Maybe the asymmetry is needed to match the artwork?
hapit You're absolutely right! I don't know whether this was intended by Vadim harbinger_ua but this is how I could make it fit. We will have to wait for Kent's @theluthier blockout to which we all can align our parts.
Any ideas why my chimney bool may not be working? When set to union, the cube fills up fine, but difference is doing nothing. I tried it both with the modifier and in geometry nodes and neither worked.
llegobenj That is strange. I wouldn't think it would be mod stack order if Union is working.
Have you tried toggling the boolean exact versus quick method in the Blender preferences?
I'd try the difference out on something simpler to see if you can nail down the behavior first, perhaps and troubleshoot the process.
Alright I have been on the research mill and have come to a fairly certain conclusion regarding the location and placement- orientation of the Cornerstone.
But first, a little background history:
"In the past, buildings were designed and built in relation to certain astronomical points of the compass. Ancient cultures believed that the position of heavenly bodies regulated life, fortune, and success; therefore, Cornerstones were commonly placed facing the North East because it was thought this location would bring harmony and prosperity to the building and its owners. The ancient civilizations often performed a ceremonial ritual when the Cornerstone was placed." as found here: https://www.billwarch.com/blog/the-little-known-purpose-of-the-cornerstone/
Based on Omar's blueprint & the shadow direction given from the Sun (travels from the East-to-West) it would appear that the Cornerstone would go here (The North East Corner) which makes sense for the front of the house. It'll go at the base of the foundation (probably covered):
I covered this with the Spice Baron leaders and I am pretty certain this is the location but I'll get confirmation tomorrow.
The next major question is what do we as a group of Free Craysons place inside the Corner Stone to place as a tribute? I'm thinking either an insignia from the team or an object that represents us (like a construction/mason tool(s) perhaps one for the carpentry and one for the masonry?
We'll want to also allow each team to place a tribute to bless the building with.
Doing a quick reality check : I'm considering the foundation stones (H) to form the perimeter of the house, with the interior being hollow with, say, a wooden floor being the visible part inside. Does that sound reasonable? The alternative would be to extend it to the whole surface, but that would seem like a very difficult thing to construct in practice, to get anything flat.
Here's the snippet from the live stream regarding the naming convention for our files:
So, our team files should look something like this, agreed?
house-ext-front_asset_##_username.blend
For mine it would be:
house-ext-front_foundation_01_blanchsb.blend
How does that sound?
Sometimes it is just a matter of checking the Self checkbox. (there are other things that can go wrong, but try the easy ones first).
Hi everyone! Qpola reporting for some chiseling duty. I will attempt to contribute to the wooden beam asset and was wondering if there is any way to get access to the high res reference picture, which Kent talked about. The one that is on the Google Drive.
jakeblended and matbev let me know if you want to align on the work for this asset.
A quick note for everyone doing the wainscotting part, you might want to search references using the keyword wood board sliding exterior and if you're looking for wear and tear, try reclaimed wood.
Oh and I found this interesting approach to wood sculpting that I will be trying. (For anyone wanting a strict blender pipeline, the treasure chest course gives more than enough to go on).
See you soon ;)
Hey qqpola yeah i think thats a great shout there. lets have a think of a way we can do this.
qqpola if you have sync'd the file then the image is located here:

Does that help?
Woah that is a great question.
There are blueprints on the Collab Google Drive that Omar has drafted up already.
I believe there is a sub level already considered in the design.
Our job is to try to make sense of all of that. We may need to collaborate with the House Interior group to get clarification on the interior but my quick though is let's focus on the exterior perimeter. There's plenty to tackle there.
