Hiding parts of the model in sculpt mode?

Hi,

I want to select some edge loops in edit mode and hide them so they don't show up in sculpt mode, but I can't figure out how this works. Can somebody help me out?

Greetings,
tobles

Just press H to hide the selection in Edit Mode and then switch to Sculpt Mode. I believe that there was a time when this didn't work, but in 2.83 and later versions this should work.

Wow...this is like when I can't find something and then my wife looks and finds it right where I was looking before :(
I just did what you told me and now this works. Don't know why this didn't work before though.
Thanks again spkiey, your always saving my back !!!

I don't get it, blender does it again! I hide something in Edit mode and when I change to sculpt mode it shows everything. :(

Those are the worst; problems that only happen sometimes!

What Blender version are you using?

Did you you try it with: Load Factory Settings? (Probably won#t help, but there is a slight chance that an Addon or so is causing issues...)

Is your Graphics Driver up to date!

I'm using Blender 2.9.0 right now.
Graphics Driver is up to date. As soon as I can I will try to Load Factory Settings, maybe this will help. The only Addon I'm using is Retopoflow.

ttobles is that 2.90.0 ? I've tried it in 2.90.1 and couldn't get it to not work. And according to this post:

    https://cgcookie.com/questions/12877-hidden-faces-are-not-hidden-when-i-switched-in-sculpt-mode

this was a problem in 2.90.0. All other versions seem to work. So you'll probably have to use a different version (2.92 is stable), although I think the Blender website is down at the moment...
