How is a human motion animated?

I get the vibe that doing a linear motion animation takes some time but that can't be the way actual human motion(walking, turning, and doing various poses) is done in production, correct?

I think probably starting with inverse kinematics. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-2v_CKmVE8.

No, I believe It was me who didn't ask the question properly :D

What I meant was, how is the animation of a character done in production? in this small animation-which is supposed to be simple compared to what we see in animation movies- there is alot of problem solving going on, and if everything is animated by hand in a huge movie then that surly take ages to do the problem solving for every scene and character(I might be mistaken) so am asking to make sure. is that really how it is done in production?

    Hi Yodda,

Yes this is how it is done on a hand keyed production.  Animation is hard.
