I'm trying to emulate toonboom with blender, basically making a full on 2d character rig.
I've seen some different attempts at this using multiple grease pencil objects and lattices (since afaik you can only use one lattice per grease pencil object) and none of them really seem up to par yet.
Is cgcookie working on any 2d grease pencil animation tutorials in general and specifically a 2d cutout style rigged character? I know it's kind of a niche subject but I think it could be cool.
Hi Colin,
I have had that on my to-do list for a very long time. But you are exactly right. It's always been a little too niche, so many other projects have taken priority.
Not saying that it's not going to happen. I'm saying, I don't know when that's going to happen.
We did actually have a whole Grease Pencil course booked with an actual 2D artist last year but it didn't eventuate :(
Some of the problems with teaching Grease Pencil is that the development happens so fast that it becomes obsolete so quickly.
(which is great for artists, not so great for teachers haha)
That makes sense, as of yesterday's 2.93 daily alpha build the lattice limit has been removed so things are changing pretty quickly for it. Well I'll keep an eye out if you guys do make something and keep tinkering away at it myself either way.
