Select bones in weight paint for left-clickers

If you're a left-click-selector like me you might wonder how to select bones while in weight paint mode.  Turn off Lock Object Modes as shown by Wayne, then go into weight paint and hit crtl + lmb to select your desired bone.

    Thanks Florian.

I will annotate the video as I forgot the difference there.

hi, maybe there is a difference in Blender 4.0, but I tried both options (using the same workflow as in the video) and then going into weight paint and hit crtl + lmb and nothing really worked for me... Is there any other way to do this? I'm a left clicker...

Perhaps it's because you need to disable the locked modes:

Yeah, I don't keep up with all the diferences (4.+) has a lot of changes...

But if you want to try 4.1, you have a nice button (enabled by default, I think):

Thanks all, in 4.0 we still don't have this bone button and this does look way more intuitive. I did some research in the Blender documentation and tried a few things and finally I think I got it. The difference in 4.0 is that instead of Crtl + LMB, the shortcut is Control + Shift + LMB... Rest of the workflow is the same as Florian said above.

Oh I like that new button.  I haven't used 4.1 yet as I'm still finishing off this course in 4.0.

I'm glad you got it sorted mmauroornelas - it does suck when they change the hotkeys.  Thankfully it doesn't happen all that often.
