Hi Wayne,
And you did again...
Such an amazing course ! Thanks !
To be honest all the fundamentals courses in 2.8 learning flow are soo good as they allow us to really understand the subject in addition to directly use all the skills we learned!
After completing (almost I just noticed the weightpainting chapter is released) this rigging course I directly put almost everything in practice with a small robot I finished just before this course was released.(coincidence? I call it destiny)
Here is my result:

The original concept was clearly not rigging/animating friendly but it was enough for me to practice and spend some time to figure out how to make it work anyway.
I'll do my best to make a small animation with it and test the rig.
Maybe it's too early but I'm wondering what's the next great course/tuto you are going to work on?
PS: here some lobbying to have animation in a future collab project ;)
Hey Franck!
Great work on your rig there, and thanks for the kind words (as always)
I think you will be very excited with something that we have planned for the second half of the year ;)
Re your rig, I can make a few suggestions if you like.
-It looks like you might not have a control for the entire upper Torso. It will be easier to animate if you have a control to move both the Head and the Hips. At the moment it looks as though you might need to animate the location on both of them if you wanted the character to walk forward of something. But maybe I missed that.
-For the antenna, here's an idea for you.
Make it a simple fk chain. 3 or 4 bones long (bendy bones if you like). But if you didn't want to animated them all manually you can add 1 extra bone near the end and use a 'transformation' constraint to connect the location of this control to the rotation of each FK bone in the chain.
Map the forward/back translation to the forward/back rotation of the chain, and the left/right translation to the left/right rotation of the chain bones.
That way it can easily bend and wobble around with 1 control.
I hope that makes sense - it's sounds more complicated than it is.
But don't forget you can set this up on 1 bone and then copy it to the rest.
Keep up the hard work!
