Is there now a way to do a quick clay render of your Blender scene without having to go to the hassle of removing/muting all the objects textures in the scene?
I am sure somewhere I saw something about this.
Basically , I have a completely finished scene with hundreds of separate objects , all with textures, and I need to do a nice clay render of it to show the model only. It has to be an actual render though , and not just a VP screenshot or anything like that , something along these lines for example :
Thanks in advance for any help :)
How is clay render different than MatCap? If you want matcap then it's just a click away.
Switch your render engine to Workbench and play with the options (I think at some point this was actually called Clay Engine or something like that):
It doesn't take your Scene lights into account, as far as I know. (But you can adjust your Studio Lights in the Preferences)
I think if you make a clay material and use it in this overide setting it might give you what you need.
Thanks , but MatCap exists only in the Viewport. If you run a render with all your lighting then the matcap will be overridden by your objects materials. MatCap is more of a visualisation aid for the viewport with many presets to help you.
Clay renders are essentially Cycles renders with lighting , AO , DOF and all the other tricks but with a standard , single colour diffuse material across the board , usually similar to clay. The issue I have always had is that you have to switch out every objects material in the scene to your clay one which can be very time consuming.....
Thanks Spikey , that was it I think. I definitely remember there being some sort of clay render feature added to 2.8 back when it first came out.
Ahh thanks Keith , that would work too , perfect! Now I have two options to experiment with. CGC community to the rescue again , thanks all!
