Help Dog Topology

Hi. Good night.

I'm a software developer. I'm tryng to learn blender. It's been a lot of fun. But I don't have much experience.

I would like to have sugestions about the topology I'm currently working at.

Already see the course Blender Mesh Modeling Bootcamp where I've learned a lot.

As I don't have much experience, I'm stuck with the following problem with quad junctions.

This dog eye on picture above  has 13 vertex. Where as I learnead the optimal value would be like something about 12.

Any sugestions of what I can do?

A clean image bellow.

thanks for any help

I think having an even number of verts in a circle is desired because it may help later on depending what you are doing with it.

The vertex you marked as #13 is not doing anything, the edge from #1 to #12 is straight, so removing #13 what not change the shape in any way. I would remove the edge loop from #13 and up over the head and then space the edge loops on the side of the head more consistently.

1 select edge loop, press x and select dissolve edges.

2 space the edge loops to close the gap left from removing edge 1, leaving consistent spacing across the top and down the side of the head.

It will be a bit of edge and vertex sliding with GG, (G to move, GG to slide), until you are happy with the result.

Try and keep a smooth flow of verts. See the blue lines, some sharp angles along the edge loops. Later on you will see some lumps and bumps if there is not a smooth flow.

Where the eye brow meets the head and the edges between the eyes and flow into the nose is fine because you want definition in these areas.

The purple line shows a nice flow of verts.
