Hi.
It is not possible to move the emitting object without destroying the particles.
It'll clear all emitted particle. it is not possible in 2.8 to make the same things in this video. There are no particles at all after moving the emitting object.
How do animators solve this? I mean with such behavior, it is not possible to animate an object without clearing the particles...
Is there some secret ingredient to make particles move and follow its trajectory after emited event the emitter has gone? (like in 2.79). Perphaps it is a strange default setting...
Merry Christmas
Edited:
After reminded the low poly rocket tutorial has the same situation with it's smoke simulation, I found that the solution to avoid this strange behavior is parenting.
That looks really weird to me.
When parenting the emitting object to a different object, the particles aren't cleared while move the parent (and with it the emitting object).
Nevertheless, it seems to me a poor workaround. Maybe there is a setting that allows me to move the object around without clearing the emitted particles?
Maybe in Blender 3.0 the grandma Object will be necessary to make particles stay there where I'd expect? ;-))
How do the artists handle this topic when working with old 2.7 files in 2.8?
Again, merry Christmas
I can confirm that in Blender 2.91 it's not possible to have the particles continue to simulate while interactively transforming the object, but the particles start up again as soon as the object is at rest. The parenting trick you mentioned does seem to work well. If the motion is animated though then the particles work fine - it just doesn't work with interactive movement. Hopefully that'll be updated in a future version, but for now just keyframe the motion before hitting play. Hope that helps!
