Would adding some emission to the wall materials be another option for bounce lighting? Are there any drawbacks?
That would change the perceived color of the wall drastically. It would also 'flatten' the color, because Emission is 'flat'. (reducing shadows and lighter areas)

You can easily see what's happening when you have a recent Blender version (I think 2.91 or later), you can use the Emission strength slider in the Principled Shader to add some Emission to the wall..
