Built-in "Bone Layer Management" in Blender 2.9?

posted to: Deformation Bones

I'm wondering whether there will be a built-in "Bone Layer Management" in Blender 2.9x.

Currently, I only know of an Add-on by "fin.eskimo" (blenderartists.org) for Blender 2.8 and 2.9 which is discussed here on "blenderartists.org" and which can be downloaded here on Gumroad for "free" (but the developer needs more coffee 😉) .

    Hi Duerer,

I may be wrong but my understanding of the current development with bones is that the layer system will eventually be dropped and blender will have 'Bone Collections'.  At least this was the plan from when Blender 2.80 was released.

I am of the understanding that it is still the eventual goal, however, this development keeps getting pushed back.

So I think there will be a built in management system after these changes have been implemented, but it still isn't anytime soon.

In the meantime,  yes, you should buy Fin a coffee! He is a Blender Champ!

Thanks, @waylow, I was already wondering why Blender's "Bone Layer Management" still uses the Blender 2.7x system and why the Blender developers didn't adapt the "Collections System" as "Bone Layer Management". In Blender 2.91Alpha is still the old system.
