Melvin rig UI not showing

Hi, I have Blender 2.83 and set the preferences to run Python scripts automatically. When I opened the Melvin rig, there are no menus or UI for the rig (only Item, Tool , View). The controls for the model cannot be selected individually.

Are you in pose mode, Cathychow?

It will only show in that mode.

Hi, thank you for the prompt reply and the beautiful rig! I can use the controls in Pose mode now. However, when in material preview mode for viewport shading, the mesh and colour are not visible. Solid view shows orange colour and only in rendered view can I see the spots on the model. Is there a way I can see the colour and spots on the model in material preview mode?

  • Wayne Dixon replied

Material preview should show you the texture on the character.

    Can you post a screenshot?

When I first open the rig, the model has a silver material. When switched to solid view, it's orange. If I click back to material preview mode, it looks like the picture above.

Hi Cathy, that looks rather strange indeed.  But it might be an issue with your graphics card rather than the file.

Do other files show in Material Preview mode?

I might get @theluthier and @jlampel to have a look at that.
Have either of you guys seen an invisible mesh in Material Preview mode?

looks like there is no light source?

    File seems ok:

ccathychow this might indeed be a graphics card problem; are your drivers up to date?!

Hi, thank you for your comments. I'm using a HP ProBook 450 G5.

I can confirm spikeyxxx: Shaders + textures load and compile fine for me in Blender 2.83 LTS. However the scene does look like @catheychow's screenshot *until the shaders finish compiling*. If they never finish compiling then it may indeed be graphics card limitation.
