Is this ready for retopology?

So, that's my sculpted Piero:

Is it ready for retopology? File is here.

I've  reshaped the cheeks of Piero a little bit less pronounced:

PS: The white claws are separate objects. Is there a way to give them a "Matcap" look with the bird's main body at the same time or is this only possible with the active object?

    The new file is here.

As far as I know: in 2.66 only the active object gets the Matcap.

In 2.79 all objects get the Matcap.

I do not know of a way to change either behavior and I also don't know when this was changed.

I think, I will take this version here for retopology:

The eyes have been shifted a little bit closer to the bird's center line and the "nose bridge" is now curved slightly more towards the front.

    Almost twin birds 😉:

    Okay, starting retopology:

Yes I looks ready to me! The sculpt is a bit bumpy but the retopo should smooth this out pretty well. Tis a benefit of retopo with this project that we don't have to be overly precise with the sculpt.

    You're making great progress.

Piero has to take a short beauty sleep 😉:

Beeing retopologized can be very exhausting🛌!

Some slight sculpted corrections of the eyebrows so that Piero looks less angry before continueing the retopology:

A "Tools" question: Wasn't "Pick Shortest Path" already in Blender 2.66? When I tried it, I got this interesting shading artefact showing the triangulation grid of the "Dyntopo" sculpted mesh (click on the image to see this better in the darker parts of the sculpted mesh coming through the retopology mesh):

It reminds me of this guy with a pestilential mask whom I've seen recently:
