I'm thinking this looks like a great place to add the submissions. What do you think @wesburke
Okay I'm definitely not going to make the hour mark lol. I don't even know sky shaders that well. I'm following along at this point, but I am making my own design choices. I'm learning a lot just rewatching this at 75% speed. Didn't know about the camera passerpartout section. That's pretty cool.
cbaileyfilm Okay here goes!
For the Sky: I mixed in a voronoi texture with the gradient texture for the input color ramp on the World Node setup. I also made a frame to remind myself later what I am working on in the node editor. (Frame your selection using Shift + P when the Node Wrangler add-on is active).
Nice sand-stormy sky if I do say so myself.
Adding some noise and mixing it in a little......I can't stop myself.
Here's after a couple more hours........ definitely getting the hang of it. I ended up sculpting my own sand hills and trails because I could not get the planes to work the way I wanted them. Looking pretty sick though. I also changed the sky color palette a little.
Alright I am calling it quits. Spent all day on Sandykins here and she turned out quite nice.
Okay @wesburke and cbaileyfilm this is Blanchsb's Submission
Here's some build-up of how I got my particular look:
Sand Storm Effect - Just a couple of planes with alpha adjustments to the shader made up of mostly noise and voronoi with a mask image this really just some black and white around the worm so he isn't completely covered, man I love alpha masks!.
Here's the node setup:
The Dunes - Sculpted plane (took about 20 minutes with dynotopo and blob and smooth brush mostly)
Here's the node setup:
Mixed in some magic with noise and musgrave and then adjusted the mapping node to get the wind-swept sand effect juuuuuuuust right.
Last but not least: Here's Sandykins: I used a curve and got the twist and adjusted individual node's radius in the N panel for each node vertex on the curve to get a mix between fax and stretched as she turns around to look up at something.
Here's the node setup. I'm especially proud of the skin: Lot's of voronoi mixed with some noise for skin fine texture. Then just adjust mapping scal on the Y direction to make it look a little stretched along her body which makes a cool effect as she turns her body.
Oh man I just got a shout out on Blender Sci Fi Blitz episode week 2!
Was sooo excited I grabbed my wife and kids haha. Thanks again.
