Hey fellas!
This is my sub for this years halloween challenge.
I guess the video should be submission enough, but just in case I'll upload some images here too.
Total Tris: 136,531
Texture resolutions: 1k to 2k
The workflow:
I had the vampire idea from minute 0, I just watched Reinfield (with Nic Cage) so I was hyped af.
Then I had to decide what and where. I began with a vampire hunter's kit. But then I tought it'd be a shame not to have a vampire, so I shifted to the character. I realised I never did hair before for a character, so I took @theluthier course on character hair cards (10/10), when I was done, I needed the chambers, so I gathered a bunch of reference from old castles and made the interior assets.
First I made them look old, and finally, adding some blood and violence to give it the final touch.
At that point I had already decided to make a "real time" animation and rendered it live in viewport. So keeping it low poly and low texture-res was key to success.
I left no stone unturned. Using basic modelling, sculpting, cloth sims, rigid body sims, rigging, geometry nodes for the fire, hand painted textures, procedural textures, live compositor, anyways, you get me...
I hope you enjoy it, cheers!
Now this is what the challenge was about. Image maps, normal maps, everything baked up, a whole dungeon, and a video. Really nicely done!
Thanks a lot Wardred!
wow you didn't just make an asset but an entire dungeon! Nice work
Thank you Sheila :)
Pretty cool Martin. I guess you don't realize your real inspiration was Legacy Of Kain: Blood Omen, the original one. It has such a similar vibe, I used to love that game. Still do of course, it's just that it's super old on not for today's standards.
Thanks Omar, hahaha I can't say I know of it, I'll look it up :)
Old games will forever be in our hearts 💕
