Hello CG Cookie Community! I am Yana, a 3D animator based in Munich. For months now I’ve been working on my personal animation project called
Funny Legs. It's a project that looks 2D and is inspired by mid-century cartoon style, but actually - it's all done in 3D. Well, almost. The characters - Bob and Dog - are 3D models, but some props are created in 2D with the help of Grease Pencil (also Bob has GP legs and hair). Basically, 99% of the show is done in Blender. I do the editing with music and sound effects in DaVinci, but I don't do compositing: it's just Eevee - press render - and it's done.
Today I want to show you the 5th Funny Legs episode - Insomnia Has Paws. I don’t have a pet yet, but my friends tell me that this episode is very relatable for both dog and cat-parents.
Next week I am going to Blender Conference in Amsterdam to present this project there. So, I had only two weeks before that to create this new episode - and I did it in 9 days. It was definitely hard, but this challenge was pushing me to be more creative and look for the corners that I can cut here and there.

Have a great weekend and happy learning! :)
That is so cool and happy. Love the fluidity of movement which is helped by curved legs and arms (no knees and elbows).
I commend you in your achievement in the short time you've been at it!
Thank you, I am really happy you liked it :)
Wow, that is some top-tier animation there. Well done.
Thank you so much!
Awesome, I really like Funny Legs. No one knows the name of the doggy, so I hereby name him Jolly Paws.
Thank you so much! I call the dog - Dog (creative, right? :D) But your version is also just lovely! As far as I know, people often have a ot of nicknames for their pets :)
