I took Jonathan's course on modeling a first-person shooter weapon and decided to raise the stakes by tackling a real-life gun with more detail. I went with the HK416 and even experimented with hand-painted textures. Overall, I'm really happy with how it turned out :D! Outlines for both low-poly and high-poly for normal baking option.
I took it all the way down from almost 2 million tris to around 40K, I could have gone a lot lower, but I also felt like I was already in the scope-creep area. In any case, I did learn a lot and hopefully my next build I won't need to optimize as much to get the same results!
That looks amazingly good. It is a default render, would love to see it pop with a proper lit, composition and presentation render, make those textures pop.
Thanks Omar! Illumination is definitely one of my pending areas. I've got enough to make it 'work' but not enough to make it pop. It does get easier after each render in any case and that's thank to you all :) You guys are amazing.
