Blender 4.2 Nintendo 64 Vertex Lighting + Unreal 5 Port Work In Progress

1 love

Posting for a personal Milestone! Geometry Node and material asset library for retro 3d content in modern Blender both Cycles and Eevee.

This is a hybrid Release and Work in progress. The blender portion is released but this is tools made in blender for making retro content in unreal 5! also there's some people out there that make you tube animations that wanna use em, thanks to the you tuber Macho Boy for making me a thumbnail for the tutorial.

BOY HAS IT BEEN A JOURNEY and I'm so glad i didn't have to subsist on you tube tutorials alone. I mainly interact on the CG cookie discord but i'll tell ya, there's other discords i frequent and help on and whenever there's a newbie i point em here. some of the best learning content i've gotten it makes it frustrating to try and find good learning resources for unreal 5. All these are unlit materials, vertex shaders written in geometry nodes and no geo node required for the end user to enjoy the tool! learned about vector math and thank Jesus i can picture arrows in my head better now. For any others wanting to get a handle on vector math, light shaders is a great way to do it!

I might try and figure out how to release this on blender market for free or gumroad but this is kinda just a portfolio piece i ask people to at least attribute/point back to me so maybe i can get hired as some sort of technical artist :)

UNREAL LEARNING BLUEPRINTS AND ANIMATIONS HERE I COME

bugfix with ray traced shadows, old is decrep

got stuff ported better to unreal engine. new refactor and learning lots with blueprints, so handy that i know vector math now from this project. Praise God
I want to get this polished and just like maintain it. I don't know how many tens or possibly entering into hundreds of hours I've been working on lights. I want to move forward!

  • Way to go Itera! It’s been fun watching the WIPs develop and sharing your journey. Super cool result for sure! Such a cool example of sticking with a project for the long haul. And just look at the results! Totally worth it.

Congrats on finally achieving goal man, it's super complicated and I never understand any of it, which makes you a computer and math wizard.

thanks! i was talking to someone else about this the other day and i still get that feeling. this is still apparently super simple lighting math compared to what we use now for regular blender. wish they didnt just remove those older models. :(
