This is the first work I have posted anywhere. We had these mugs at home when I were a nipper. The more detailed model is an improvement but I can't get the texture to stick, yet!
Nice one Roger! I agree with Nathi's comment about replicating tutorials. The more you use them, the more you'll have the information sticking in your head - not just out of remembering the steps, but how it's working under the hood, and then how to take it and make even better. Texturing aside, it's also an excellently modelled mug. Where the handle joins the mug itself is top notch!
Agreed! Texture looks great!
And nothing wrong with following a tutorial... as long as you are trying to understand why you adding each node, eventually you'll need to "increase the contrast here", or "make the bump more subtle there"... You will know how, I'm sure of it. You are definitely retaining something when following those.
Thanks. Yep, just the mug so far. I’ll return to it when I learn a bit about lighting and put some effort into making something eye catching, with a bit of story to it.
I have to admit that I followed a tutorial for the texture. Very, very complex. Definitely not something someone new to texturing and nodes could pull off. I did learn a bit while doing it but most of it went over my head to be honest.

Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do
Texture is great, lighting is great, render is great, it's all great. A 10 out of 10 🤘🏻
Thanks very much!

Looking forward to seeing the final project!
Thank you. I did learn some bits from the tutorial. It was definitely a worthwhile exercise.
You nailed the texture, dude. The composition as a whole lacks visual interest beyond the star of the show, but it's a solid model. Great work.
