Animated Olympics Rings - Geo Nodes Final

2 loves

So i just finished the awesome tutorial series "Introduction to Motion Graphics", by Ducky 3D. But there is no exercise at the end.

Anyway, i decided to make my own exercise : displaying the olympic rings moving through a map of France constituted by instanced hexagons ("The Hexagon" is a nickname for France).

I found how to created an 'image shaped mesh" using geo nodes thanks to this
tutorial : YouTube Video

[UPDATE] I finally found how to pick a single color / shader (diffuse or transparent gradient) for each instance, thanks to this discussion on blender stack exchange. I updated the screen captures of the Geo Nodes to reflect the changes i made. The video as been updated as well.

The idea is that the color attribute is captured in the geometry nodes, and then this attribute is used as an input for the color of the diffuse shader.

  • Very nice! 🤘
