Finally finished this bad boy. I had to grab a few new tools to achieve this result, and man were they worth it. The main one was a tool that helped me create more believable clouds in shape, and another to make the clouds look more fluffy and translucent. It turns out that the clouds I've made in the past have been all wrong with how I didn't allow enough light to pass through them.
This one was a tough one in how I just got lost in the weeds on what to do with it for a while. Thank god it's done now haha!
Special thanks to the Blender Foundation for offering their Spring character model to the general public through their demo scenes on Blender.org. It really saved me a lot of time creating a character myself and focusing more on the environment around Spring.
Really nice environment you created here!
Looks great!!
Thank you Dani! I appreciate it man
It's quite charming! Beautiful work!
Thank you so much John! I really appreciate it!
That is an amazing scene Brandon, I can almost hear the birds and feel the breeze. I love those open scenes that signal freedom, plus they are so hard to do, to make them feel right, a lot of detail is required and that mostly complicates things. Incredible lighting as well, it's a job well done all over the place π€πΌ
Ah, thank you so much Omar! Yeah man, I love those open shots as well, with any type of scene really. That sense of "here is the world!". Yeah, funny you mentioned that, I had forgotten how to make these types of scenes feel right and was really overwhelmed at relearning it. Then someone I follow who was showing off some nature reminded me how much of a calculation there is in creating proper nature. Chaotic, but with pattern, and then a touch of what you want to do with it. After that I worked a bit at a time on that until it felt better.
Ha! Thanks for the compliment on the lighting. I was pretty proud at how I decided to do that with this one. Thanks again for the compliments amigo!
At first, I thought the sky was just a photo -- until I read about you working on it.π IMO, the sky with the clouds and the subtle sun glare along with the translucent, extremely realistic grass are the best part of it: not to say that the rest is not good, of course.
Actually, it even feels a bit odd to see the cartoonish, stylised character running across such a photorealistic landscape: almost as if he's a papier-mΓ’chΓ© statue set there by -- I don't know -- park rangers to entice visitors?π
Haha! That's great to here, it's one of my favorite parts of the scene as well. Yeahhh, I think you're right, the character is of a different style vs the environment around her. This is something I'm not too familiar with blending together, and I'm not character creator... yet. I foresee dealing with that dilemma in the future, for sure.
Hey man, thank you for your kind words and critique! I really appreciate it! Do take care!
