I was trying to create a Peugeot 405 pininfarina based on blueprints and at the end of the process, when comparing to real life pictures I saw the proportions were off from the blueprints I used.  Therefore I decided to upgrade this car to a matchbox where the general shape is respected but proportions can be a bit more free.  Important learning for me: it is not enough to base yourself on blueprint, you need ref material and there is a decent amount of work to make sure all these materials have the same relative sizes so you can model more accurately.
