My first submission to this website! I enjoyed the planet course and it really sparked my creativity. The short but effective style worked really well, so big thanks to Kent!
Meet my ice giant, inspired by Neptune and Uranus. Since Uranus (we all think of the planet now, right?) is tilted by 98°, I thought it would be interesting to give this planet a nice tilt as well. It took about 2 hours to create the planet, the ring, and the base of the space background. It still felt a bit too empty though, so I spent another hour adding the nebula (I had no idea how to make them, so this really took some time) and doing some minor tweaking and detailing. And to be honest, when I look at the render, I still want to tweak and add even more. But with the course in mind, I refrained from overdoing things to keep the end result simple and minimal.
It looks very nice, I feel the sun is maybe too bright and somewhat distracts from the planet, which I assume is the focus. I think making it dimmer would make your scene look even better.
Epic!
Thank you Sheila!
Epic result Kim.
Well done, I expect we will see many more submissions from you.
Keep it up.
Thanks for the kind words Adrian. More to come soon!
Very good results man, good framing and lighting. It's hard to get this space renders right when the camera is farther away. Good job. Also loving the geeky stats of knowing the tilt of planets and all. I too am a space and the universe enthusiast and I appreciate the attention to science detail. 🤙
Thanks Omar! It indeed took some time to get the framing somewhat right. The planet's tilted ring made it a bit more challenging as well, so lots of time was spent just rotating, scaling and moving things around. Glad to hear you like the render and my geeky info dumping as well haha. Much appreciated!
