Not the direct result of a CGCookie course, but certainly applying numerous skills and techniques I've learned with shading, modeling, and compositing. Welcome to Outpost 08!
This is brilliant, Thalestr. Such high fidelity details that give a massive sense of scale. I absolutely love that this isn't the direct result of any course. Applying techniques to unique projects is the whole point! And you're doing it to great effect π
I'm going to send you an email about being featured in the 2023 CG Cookie Student reel.
Woah, thank you! That means a lot to me and I greatly appreciate it! π

It certainly looks stunning,
My only critique would be the trees on the hillside are too uniform in height. A bit more variation in height, particularly on the silhouette, it looks more like freshly mowed grass.
Overall though, it is beautiful work.
The DoF looks beautiful: such a nice, subtle touch, these trees at the front, near the edges. Adds realism and distracts the viewerβs attention from the edge of the forest on the central mountain, where the individual trees are a bit too distinct (raise the mist higher to mask it better, rather than creating millions of instances to make the forest thicker?)
Well hot dangs man, that looks great. Feels cold, looks sharp, great lighting, depth of field is there, good layout and framing, fog. Two thumbs up ππΌππΌ
