Thoughts after taking the course: Human Final

11 loves

It's been a few months since I've purchased the standalone version of the lecture from the blendermarket. After finishing the course for the second time around I must say that the course hits the right spot for everyone struggling to build believable portraits on their own but failed for reasons beyond their reach. Achieving realistic look involves successfully reaching the milestones in the modeling, texturing, lighting pipeline and I myself suffered for a prolonged time not realizing what I have missed. This course covers the whole portrait building process from the scratch A to Z.

And I really liked the points the instructor was making not only on the technical procedure but on the mindset for the artists like you can always come back to make changes or features like wrinkles are all there but hidden in younger figures.

This course takes some time and dedication to go through. Took me about two months for the 1st run. If you have been trying so hard to make your portraits look real only to fail for reasons you don't understand, go for this course. It's worth every penny you spend.

*Did re-render on the 3rd pic. Guess different lighting changes the feel alot

Thank you! It’s made with blender 100% I assure you😆. I’ve always liked CG cookie tutorials but this Human course was a pure masterpiece.

  • Really excellent job.

The wrinkles look real, the veins and thin skin on the hand are impressive. Well done!

Thank you. Stamping alphas first then inflating and creasing helped to ramp up the realism alot. Vein handpaintings would look kinda messy on the closer look. Just wanted to give it the feel that they’re there. Blue streaks painted over with skin color that’s all

  • This is sooo amazing, I love the look of the character!

Thank you. I myself had a good time making him. Glad to see you like it.

Dude very good results. In the second picture he looks like John Hurt. You know, the bad guy in V For Vendetta or probably better known for being Mister Ollivander the wand maker in Harry Potter. The shirt could use a little work, looks too sturdy and almost like concrete in the last picture, but hey it's a human course, not a shirts course. All in all very cool work, congrats on getting the most out of the course and finishing twice. Keep on rocking 🤟🏼

Been so long since I watched the movie I had to look John Hurt up🤣. Yeah he kinda looks like him just way skinnier. Thanks for the comment on the shirt. I appreciate that kind of feedback. Can’t really see things objectively after spending so much time working on the same model.
Addendum> you know what? It turns out the reference photo actually WAS the John Hurt himself. I though it was just a random picture off the pinterest. You've got keen eyes for recognizing people. 😆
