It’s been nearly ten months since we
announced a new direction for CG Cookie: framing stronger community connections, and offering annual enrollment while taking the time to create amazing things with Blender.
We’re just getting started.
Adopting the ethos of higher quality content comes at a cost, time. 🕑 The amount of time required to research, develop, iterate, produce, and support increases across the board.
Our last
Blender course release was nearly four months ago. 🤔 Don't fret, we're not sitting twiddling our thumbs. The team is quite busy answering questions on the forum, offering private exercise feedback, while investing resources into upcoming Blender training.
Let's take a moment to dive in to what we're currently cooking here at CG Cookie.
__________
Course: OFF ROAD | Rigging and Animating a RC Truck in Blender
With over six months of research and development,
Wayne has set out to create one of the most in-depth vehicle rigging courses to date. Spending months collaborating with our resident Blender Retopoflow developer
Jon Denning to turn complicated problems into something manageable for aspiring riggers.
It was important to have a good model to work with, so collaborating with
Lucas Falcao and
Paul Caggegi our first CG Cookie RC monster truck was born!
Expected release: Spring 2022
PDF Guide: Teachers Guide to Teaching Blender
We hear from educators charged with teaching Blender in the classroom. Teachers well-versed in Blender looking for content support, or those who are brand new to Blender but have been given the task to teach it.
In this guide, we'll cover not necessarily how to use Blender, but the 30k foot view to share our experiences and foundations to build up your class and become familiar with the Blender community.
Expected release: Spring 2022
Course: CUBICITY | A Crash Course in Creating and Using Asset Libraries in Blender
Join Kent Trammell in this deep dive journey, exploring the actual usage of asset libraries in Blender. Going beyond the spotlighting of the Asset Browser in Blender you may have seen.
In typical CG Cookie fashion, we'll go beyond button-pushing, building a real-world project where the assets libraries play an important role. Inspiring various use cases to help speed up your workflow in your personal and professional projects.
It will have something for every skill level, from day-1 super simple modeling to advanced concepts like project management and geometry nodes.
Expected release Summer 2022
Course: PANELS | Create a 2D Comic Book with Blender
Imagine learning the fundamentals of Blender's Grease Pencil, with the know-how to create your very own 2D comic inside of Blender and figure out how to get it printed!
Paul Caggegi's first CG Cookie course is in very early development, though packed with Paul's experience creating storyboards for our short film Eat Sheep.
Expected release Fall 2022
Citizen Community Project: Collab 2022
Collaborations or "Collabs" are returning this year to CG Cookie! A limited modeling-centric team community project building off of the success of the backhoe 2020 collab project. If you like BIG ROBOTS 🤖 please watch this "elevator pitch" video for a basic overview of the project!
Those accepted into the team will be building a detailed MECH piece by piece, as accurately as possible to it's real-world counterpart. Along with gaining crucial pipeline and production experience working with artists from around the globe.

Plus a few more things...
We have a few more things in very early development yet to be announced, keep tuned to our newsletter for announcements and releases. 🎉
While it's fun to talk about upcoming content, I do want to use this moment to talk about the value of the CG Cookie membership. It's easy to focus on content, it's visual, fun and out-right cool. You can learn Blender from numerous sources, even for free by piecing together various YouTube tutorials.
The value of being a subscriber goes beyond streaming hundreds of Blender courses, it's about how you learn Blender. Citizens enjoy weekly interactions with members and instructors through the Q/A forum, one-on-one feedback on exercises, and or creating long-lasting connections through our collaboration projects.
If you're interested in seriously upping your Blender game, join for the content, and stay for the community. We'd love to have you.
Happy Blending! 🍪
