My first car model. I've been wanting to do a realistic car for a few years already, but I never got to do it, because I was afraid it was too difficult for me. (Like with sculpting; in the beginning, as soon as some one mentioned sculpting, I turned away. 'I cannot sculpt', like 'I cannot draw'.)
Still need to do the backside and the interior, even a part of the underside for future side views, but this is what I've got so far.
Hey, you've got a car too! Will you finish this? Are still working on it, Martin?
spikeyxxx well, I love old cars, thanks for the ref! that's a strange one indeed.
Well, thats AM)
I was attending a car show a few weeks ago on the Red Square and that show was all about old cars. There were some amazing ones for sure. But the one I liked the most was BMW with the completely genuine interior. Even the sound system was an original one -- you could put an audio tape in it and listen to it! Even the stitching on those cushions and the fabric was just right.
So yeah, that's a great model) you should finish it!
michaelmirn I did mean ALT+B to 'cut the view'.
There is a hood, but it is the entire front (if I interpreted the references correctly, see for instance:
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Aston_Martin_DB2_in_Morges_2013_-_Open_bonnet.jpg )
The doors are separated, but it"s a strange construction, where the top and rear of the window frame is connected to the roof and backside of the car (also one piece!)
There are no wheel arches on this model.
I am pretty sure the outside is rather accurate...
...still far above MY budget :)
spikeyxxx alt+d you mean?)
maybe you should switch from interior to exterior too? Sometimes it is really annoying to drag on the same old routine.
Plus there are lots of room for improvement. Like -- is there a hood? And these doors are not separated from the body, right? Wheel arches are missing.
Pretty much a budget version so far)
Thanks michaelmirn .
Got stuck making the interior (not a lot of consistent (meaning from one and the same car) reference and problems manouevring inside, because I forgot to use ALT+B(!) and the file got so big that my old PC started lagging extremely) ...
Just got a new desktop a few days ago, so I might resume working on it again (with fresh energy and some better modelong techniques)...
So how is the project going, is it finished yet?
It is a nice WIP for sure)
Thanks cgfalcon !
Don't ask me how long this took me ;)
And I still have part of the interior to finish.
But I really love the design of those old cars and it is highly satisfying when you succeed in making something like this :)
Absolut fantastic i love it. I did cars for myself, but this is really genious
rraisonhomme thank you!
I just used an HDRI from HDRI Haven, a Shadow Catcher Plane and a slight Emission Shader on a baked ground plane (you can bake the Environment...)
I am from Holland, but live near Ulm at the moment.
I am still not finished with this one; the interior is sooo hard to do ;)
Haven't worked on it for quite a while now...should pick it up at a certain point in time ;)
Nice job on the hard surface model and the lighting, did you create an hdri in the same spot? Are you from Düsseldorf as well?
