Here's a little scene I came up with a few weeks ago. Getting the fire to look decent but not melt my pc was a bit of a challenge (pun intended).
Hope you like it!
duerer I just found a free tileable scales texture on google, which I used in substance painter. In substance I created the color, roughness, height and metalness maps, with some procedural and hand-painted variations and details. Then I exported all the maps from substance to blender, using the height map as a displacement map instead. I turned the specular tint slider up a bit as well. To get all the scales pointing the right way you
need to make sure your UVs are laid out properly, which was a bit of trial and error.

paulrikkers How did you create the scales of father dragon so nicely?
@adrian2301 Thanks Adrian, that really means a lot!
I love this scene, lots of fun and good times for everyone , even papa will have fond memories of this day.
I'm going give this a 👍 and a 🏆 Staff Pick
paulrikkers The father dragon seems to be a little bit stressed by the demands of his children 😉. Fantastic work 👍!
What a fun scene! I love the expressions, especially on the older dragon !! 😃👍
euv That's not a bad idea actually. I'll have to learn the compositor a little better one of these days.
Try compositing, perhaps?
