A proportionally exaggerated fighter plane based loosely on the P-51 Mustang.
I spent some time earlier this year working through Jonathan Williamson's Simple Plane hard surface modeling course (and Kent Tramell's follow-up texture painting tutorial), and thought I would try to reinforce those lessons afterward with a model of my own.
Fast forward eight-ish months (woof) and I'm finally ready to wrap it all up. I've also attached a couple still renders of my results from the Simple Plane lessons. Thanks a ton, Jonathan and Kent!
Any comments/critiques would be greatly appreciated!
Yup. The face on the front sold me. Super nice work. You did exactly what they hoped you and every member does with the tutorial. You made it your own.
saganomics Wow, I would have guessed you had a year or two of 3D experience elsewhere. I can't wait to see what you do next!
@theluthier Thank you for the kind words!
Before joining CG Cookie I spent a few months checking out beginner Blender tutorials (Blender Guru doughnut, etc) but that was the extent of my experience with 3D modeling.
Fantastic job, Jason! Major props for applying the workflows to the provided model *and your own. Pun intended 🤓
Are you transitioning pre-existing CG skills to Blender from another app or developing skills from scratch with Blender?
