So I started this course with the resin print look, I found this very interesting. I played around with the settings and wondered how all of this would work with the principled BSDF, so here is the outcome. I went looking for the part about how the absorption Node Group was made but haven't found it yet.... @theluthier I'd like to know your opinion on how the material looks to you.
@theluthier Thank you and that does make sense. It does make the model look larger.
I think this works well as resin ketre! The only thing I'd say is that 3D-printed resin usually has more translucency since most 3D prints are smaller (more economic to print). So with yours being less translucent it gives me the impression of begin a bigger model.
I don't mean that as a critique, but just something to think about: Translucence can dictate perceptual scale.
As for the absorption node group you can find how to build it in this lesson: https://cgcookie.com/lesson/maple-syrup-material
Also you can download the nodegroup from the resources page: https://cgcookie.com/resource/utility-node-groups
Thank you @adrian2301
Looks great Karen, definitely got that resin look, especially on the hat and beard. The SSS is working well also on the ear and tips of the beard. 👍
Karen it looks better if you use denoising apart from that it looks great
