I had a job interview at a call center recently this is how I felt.
After watching some lazy blender tutorials i wanted to see if i could create an image using his technique for creating a model from a flat image this is the result. textures were sourced from textures.com
brzostek hey there thanks for the feed back i have attempted to make another render incorperating fog and displacement that i posted in my polybook tread. I cant really change the scale on the road texture without distorting it so i'm kinda stuck with the choice. i should invest more time in getting the right texture for the job.
anarchymedes Thanks I'm happy that my work resonated with you. and yes with the new denoiser its alot more easy to get a nice looking render without melting your computer with hours long renders.
Looks like software development after 30 years of doing it—and no chance to ever retire . 😉
I'm still learning to deliver a good emotional punch without challenging both my computer and Blender itself to their limits: and this work is a nice example of just that.
Right when I saw this in a gallery I thought that you might've followed Ian Hubert's tutorial. I also have now some projects that were inspired by his workflow now :P
I think the ground texture is a bit too big, scale it down to match it to the scale of the scene.
You could also add displacement to the ground and some volumetric fog to make it more realistic and a bit more mysterious.
