Created this robot for the 2. CGboost challenge.
Story:
A mining robot malfunctioned. A team of skilled technicians was dispatched. They started with the repair but got called to a more urgent repair. Everybody forgot about this robot and thousands of years later it still lays in its former position.
I started by drawing a simple sketch. From the picture, the concept looked interesting and cool however when brought to 3D it lost most of its "coolness":).
So I started by modeling the robot because that's the main focal element of the scene. I quite enjoyed the process and in "no time" the robot was finished. I then proceeded to shading and created the most complex shader in my life.
Then I created some of the secondary elements such as the toolbox and the ladder.
Then I used some of my photoscaned rocks I created my self yesterday.
All in all a super fun yet challenging project!
Hope you like it!
Any criticism appreciated!

wanderingmonk7 Hi!
Thank you for your comment! This was my first ever attempt on a robot or a character. I have done mostly enviroments and hardsurface(guns) stuff.
I love the brushed look and texture of the patches above the eye and waist. The patches in low light become flat and lose their authenticity. Truly exceptional work.
That's amazing!
