By far the most complex project I have created, since I went through a long process of sculpting, retopology, modelling, making textures and rigging!. I just watched the movie last week and realised how cool this things are! Unfortunately there is not much Matrix fan art on the internet, so I immediately wanted to make one. I modelled it using photo-references from destroyed movie props and some collectable toys.
The idea is also to animate it, the model is now fully rig with movable tentacles, working legs, able to hide and unhide the antenna and also able to close and oped the hands. I tried to stay optimised so I would not have millions of polygons. If Animation is going to be trouble I guess I could bake normals in the tentacles and make a lowpoly version of it.
I applied some of the knowledge I learnt in CGcookie this first week, it has been really awesome! specially for the rigging using constrains and getting around with detail.
iindigowarrior9 currently I am creating some different stuff, to add more things to my portfolio. But I am also working on an animation using this model.. so probably I will have to create some new assets for the short scene :)
anarchymedes Thanks for the opinion, I did add a little more detail than in the original movies.. as I noticed in some scenes it was a very simple mesh :D
lhumungus zonkerzebra mmaroy Thanks!
Awesome! Will you build more "The Matrix" characters as well in the future?
Great!
Mate it Just super awesome.
Awesome! Gives me more motivation to achieve that one day.
I am very impressed by this model. It makes me have to up my game.
Better than in the original movie, I’d say: good to see that an indie artist in 2019 can do better than the Hollywood's biggies in 1999.
Awesome!
