Finally, I’m brave enough to share my first project.
It’s been a while since I modeled this, but I see why it’s important to share the work to improve it.
After I almost finished the Blender Introduction-Learnflow of CG Cookie a few weeks ago, I tried to build my first model myself.
I challenged myself not to use a tutorial and to solve all problems only with the knowledge I learned.
I will also use this to compare my progress in the future.
Of course, the result has many flaws, but somehow I managed to model a lightsaber. I used Anakin’s lightsaber as a reference.
The hardest thing was to create the laser look of the blade, which I didn't quite succeed.
And I’ve definitely used too many vertices and faces. The geometry can be improved a lot, I think.
I also had problems uploading the model to sketchfab. It doesn’t look like the original .blend file, but almost.
Don’t hesitate to point out errors or criticize my model. Any feedback that helps me to improve is very welcome!
Have a nice day and I apologize for my english!
baukepost Thank you for your advice! It's very helpful to see where and why I need to work on it. I really appreciate it.
Looks pretty good, except for the topology just under the button (on the main cylinder); you have some weird loops going on. You can see some distortions in the reflection as a result.
