Another 'Weekly CG Challenge' with the topic 'Colossus'.
I pushed the theme a bit but I was inspired by my recent holiday to Nepal so had to go with that.
I'm still trying out different areas here so this time it was Environment art and working heavily on my lighting although I am still not quite confident enough to push it really hard. Maybe next time...
I dig it
lhumungus Thanks. For the actual clouds on the mountain I used cloud generator for the first time - I imagine there's a lot of potential there. For the mist and atmospheric haze I took several mist passes with different lengths and messed around with them in photoshop. I reckon I had about 6 mist passes but only used 3 of them, using a layer mask to draw on top. I tried the volumetric path but, after a lot of waiting for test renders decided photoshop was a much better way of getting immediate feedback on whether it looked good or not.
Well done. How did you achieve the mist/atmospheric haze? Was that done at render time or in post production? I too am trying to work on good environments and lighting with blender. "Realistic" mist and atmosphere haze seem to be difficult to achieve.
