How did you make the map? Importing it as a plane would probably fix that problem.
williamatics Thanks for the comment! I agree with you completely, unfortunately I couldn't quite get the lighting right in the Cycles render.
The second image looks like the compass is hovering over the map. Also, I can't see the shadow. The first image is great, though.
