This course is great! I'm looking forward to the normal maps portion and final submission! I have to say that this series of exercises has really changed some of my fundamental ideas about modeling and how I've been going about it previously! Big props to Jonathan Lampel for putting together a course that's challenging enough to get you thinking and intuitive enough to keep it fun! Much obliged!!
Second image is after the bake objects were built and placed. I sure hope these things bake out OK!
kkallin Good for you! i'd love to see (hear) your work, sometime!
As for the Matcap shaders, if you look to the bottom right of the second screen shot, you can see a display drop down and a checked matcap field. It's a way to display your geometry before applying any actual textures but you have to be in Cycles render mode and you have to have your base shading set to solid (bottom toolbar) . It's a great way to look at your work without committing to a memory intensive render. You can take screen shots or open gl render a scene with matcap applied. If you plan to do any sculpting or even any hard surface modelling, I encourage you to check it out!!
Oh no, I got into this whole world a few weeks ago! I'm a music producer and want to start making audiovisual art and music videos!
So right now I'm just learning the Blender basics!
kkallin Thanks but it's just a Matcap I use a lot! It seems to showcase the geometry better than some of the others do. Actually, if you look at any of my sculpts, you recognize the exact same Matcap! Just a personal preference of mine! Have you ever used the Matcap shaders?
Love the color!
forrest-harless Really lovely work, I like the design
ddannyj2k Thanks! This project is kind of a double whammy for me! I've been wanting to explore the gaming pipeline! In the Nineties, I worked as a modeler/animator, building assets and environments as well as cinematic scenes for mostly turn base/ tile base titles but I'm more a FPS guy, myself and I'm also a competition handgunner so way interesting to me on that level!
Thanks for checking my work out and for your kind words!
F.
That looks great !!
Wow, I'm so glad it's helped how you approach modeling, that's the best I could hope for! Keep up the good work!
