This is my first attempt at using Sculpt in Blender. I created this original head and face from scratch and no reference. I plan on using this for practice retopologizing. I think that sculpting first then retopologizing with a lower poly mesh is the way to go in character creation. It took me a while to get the ears details corset and looking anatomically accurate. I'm happy with this outcome for my first try.
https://cgcookie.com/course/introduction-to-character-modeling/ That is the course, In it , Jonathon sculpts the head and hands of this model with dynamic topology, and the rest with multires. There is also a video that explains the differences. There are also these course and excercises that will help you learn dynamic topology sculpting:

Hey thanks for that info. Yes, I did have trouble with finer detail stuff like the doing the ear. I was just doing what I have been taught so far here ate cgcookie. I have seen others reference something called "dynotopo" but had no clue what it was or meant. Can I get a link to that better method please? I really appreciate this feedback a lot! Much gratitude
First Sculpt? Awesome!!! Super clean compared with my first sculpt :)
This looks really good :) nice work :)
It looks like you used the multires mod for this, I personally would reccomend using dyamic topology for sculpting organic sculpts as you get far greater control and can add extra geometry easily. Assuming you did use multires, this might be the reason you had difficulty detailing the ear. If you watch the sculpting patts of Jonathons character creation course, he explains the ups an downs of each sculpting method. Only my personal opinion but hope it helps :)
